Fall seasonality is here at eden!
Eden in Chicago has one of Chicago’s best new private dining rooms, according to Crain’s Chicago Business. Two different rooms offer different vibes. Selenite (seats 18) is a clean, bright, airy room with checkerboard-style tiles, a faux fireplace and brass kaleidoscope light fixture over the table. Slate (seats 22) offers a dark, sexy persona with a shadowy, foggy, forested theme on the walls.
Dinner service debuted this week at Eden in Avondale three months after the restaurant opened for breakfast and lunch. The restaurant morphs to full service in the evening, serving more composed dishes from the kitchen team of co-owner and chief culinary officer Devon Quinn and executive chef Tim Havidic.
Here’s something you don’t hear very often: a COVID-era restaurant closure with a happy ending. So it is with Eden, the passion project of events magnate Jodi Fyfe of The Paramount Group and partner/chief culinary officer Devon Quinn. At its pre-pandemic peak, the beloved West Loop restaurant lived up to its name: an inviting oasis of green—as in uberfresh, toothsome seasonal fare, much of it utilizing produce from the on-site greenhouse Quinn built himself, plus local ingredients from farmers and purveyors—along gritty Lake Street.
Chief Culinary Officer Devon Quinn joined Chicago’s very own WGN9 segment with one of the most lush, green and colorful kitchen setups the channel had ever seen. Chef Devon spoke to the importance of providing the freshest ingredients possible, touching on the new, on-site greenhouse and the value in buying from local farmers, all while preparing Eden’s Cashew Crunch Sesame Salad with both chicken and salmon.
It’s been an emotional journey and we’re overwhelmed with excitement to be reopening! While the location is new, Eden is still focused on the same approach of using garden-fresh, seasonal ingredients from our upgraded on-site greenhouse and local farms. We have also expanded our menu to include breakfast and lunch options to provide convenient and delicious options throughout the day.
Eden’s Partner & Chief Culinary Officer Devon Quinn, Executive Chef Miles Schaefer, and Mixologist Alex Rydzewski curated a one-of-a-kind menu on April 20th. Guests were treated to an elegant affair unifying the food and beverage expertise afforded by Quinn, Schaefer, and Rydzewski, with Eden’s refined approach to events – and pristine cannabis selections incorporated into the menu from Phil Cooper, owner of High-Minded Events.
The Most Anticipated Restaurant Openings in Chicago, Spring 2022. Helmed by The Paramount Group, this restaurant and event space is off the Chicago River in Avondale, an expanded relocation of the West Loop restaurant. There’s plenty to be excited about, including a greenhouse that will grow ingredients for meals, a special brew for the restaurant made with Great Central Brewing, and a 3,800-square-foot space with two private dining spaces. There’s also an outdoor patio for 30 within a 25,000-square-foot complex housing the new headquarters of The Paramount Group.
As the pandemic tore through the restaurant industry in spring 2020, Eden, the West Loop farm-to-table restaurant, struggled. With COVID canceling private events and suspending indoor dining, Jodi Fyfe and Devon Quinn closed their restaurant in July 2020. Now, almost two years later, the couple is ready to reload with a tweaked concept in a new neighborhood.
The Paramount Group, which owns Eden, announced plans to bring back the restaurant at an expansive complex that also will house its headquarters for its catering and hospitality businesses later this fall. An address has not yet been assigned, but the eatery will be on Roscoe Street just east of California Avenue, said Jodi Fyfe, Eden co-owner and The Paramount Group CEO.
